To hire 2 costumes and a babysitter, to pay for parking, tolls, drinks and a present, the whole evening would have ended up costing us upwards of $400. We had to decide if we wanted to go so badly that it was worth that cost. Unfortunately the answer was - no.
That money could buy us 2 or 3 evenings out closer to home, so the decision was made not to go.

Wow that is an expensive evening Claire... I think that 2-3 evenings out with your husband will be lovely and very special.
So you're not handy with the sewing machine, then? I've never hired a fancy dress costume in my life.
The practical costume-making skills are easy. It's the imagination part that comes before it that I struggle with.
If I lived nearby, I'd help you make something. :(
lol - you could say that Kerryn, sewing on a button or at a stretch taking up school pants is my absolute limit.
